These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AskMyContract website at https://www.askmycontract.co.uk ("Website") and the contract analysis services provided by AskMyContract ("Service"). By using our Website and Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

AskMyContract provides AI-powered contract analysis services for UK freelancers. The Service analyzes freelance contracts, providing readiness scores, identification of potential issues, and plain-English explanations of legal clauses. Each contract analysis includes 5 follow-up questions that allow you to ask specific questions about your contract. Each contract analysis is charged at £14.99 per analysis.

IMPORTANT: AskMyContract is an informational tool only. The Service does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for professional legal counsel. You should consult a qualified solicitor for specific legal advice regarding your contracts.

2. AI Technology and Limitations

Our Service uses artificial intelligence (Claude by Anthropic) to analyze contracts. You acknowledge and agree that:

- AI technology may make errors or miss important issues
- Analysis is based on patterns and general legal principles
- Results may not be suitable for your specific circumstances
- The Service should be used as an educational tool, not as final legal advice
- For important contracts or high-value agreements, you must consult a qualified solicitor

No solicitor-client relationship is created by using this Service.

3. User Accounts

To use the Service, you are required to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and to update your information as necessary.

4. Payment and Refunds

Contract analysis is charged at £14.99 per analysis. Payment is required before the analysis is provided. We accept payment via the methods displayed at checkout (processed securely by Stripe).

Refunds: Each analysis is a one-time purchase. Because the AI analysis is delivered immediately upon payment, we generally cannot offer refunds for completed analyses.

If something went wrong (i.e the analysis failed, you were charged twice, or the service didn't work as expected), contact us at support@askmycontract.co.uk and we'll make it right.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

- Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the specific analysis in question (£14.99 maximum)

- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
  • Lost profits or business opportunities
  • Financial losses from contract decisions
  • Costs of obtaining replacement services
  • Any damages exceeding the amount paid

- This limitation applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages

- You acknowledge that you use this Service at your own risk and that contract interpretation requires professional judgment

The Service provides general information about contract terms and is not a substitute for professional legal advice. AskMyContract, its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service or reliance on any analysis provided.

6. No Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

- Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any analysis
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- That defects will be corrected

We make no guarantee that our analysis will identify all potential issues in your contract. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any analysis for your particular circumstances.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Website and Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are the property of AskMyContract and are protected by UK and international intellectual property laws.

The contracts you upload remain your property. We claim no ownership rights over your uploaded documents.

8. Data Collection and Privacy

Personal data collected: We collect your name, email address, payment information, and uploaded contract text to provide the Service and process transactions.

Data retention: 
- PDF files are deleted immediately (within seconds) after text extraction
- Contract text is encrypted and stored until you delete it
- Payment records retained for 7 years (UK tax law requirement)

Non-personal data: We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience on our Website.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
